The P-51D Mustang is considered by many to be the best fighter aircraft of WWII.
It incorporated advanced features such as a laminar flow wing and an efficient radiator design. Powered by the Packard-built Rolls-Royce Merlin V-1650 engine, it demonstrated superior performance and is widely considered to be the definitive variant of the Mustang. They were used to escort bombers such as B-17s and B-24s all the way to Germany and helped the Allies gain air superiority over Europe.
Tamiya has definitely used their superb skills to make this extremely detailed and well designed 1/32 model kit.
It measures up to 308mm in length and 354mm in width and its distinctive wing profiles have been precisely reproduced. Radiator components are made just like those on the actual aircraft. Both the radiator flap and oil cooler flap are movable. And you can select either early- or late-type tails, with the latter featuring the dorsal fin.
This kit also comes with 3 kinds of markings to depict aircraft from the U.S. 8th Air Force, as well as a 16 page full-color photographic reference manual.
You can now pre-order this amazing model kit of the North American P-51D Mustang in all its iconic glory! This beauty is definitely one to get your hands on, especially if you're a fan of WWII aircraft! To see our entire range, please click on the image ==>
You can now add these stunning replicas of 3 air crafts that played a pivotal role in World and Australian aviation history.
The HARS Super Constellation VH-EAG "Southern Preservation" is a military C-121C maker's number 4176. Originally an American air craft, it began it's career on 6 October 1955 at the Charlestown Air Force Base in South Carolina. It was then transferred to the Air National Guard in 1962 and remained there until it retired in 1977 where it was kept at the AMARC. It was then acquired by HARS in November 1991. The old bird was restored to its former glory and flew across the Pacific from Oakland, California, Hawaii, Pago Pago, Nadi and finally on 3rd February 1996 touched down safely in Sydney. It is now displayed at the HARS Museum and is regularly flown as a tribute to international air travel in the 1950s.
In the late 1950s, QANTAS Empire Airways saw a benefit in linking up its profitable services to London, on the one hand, and the USA on the other. And so with the QANTAS Super Constellations VH-EAP "Southern Zephyr" and VH-EAO "Southern Aurora", the first Australian Round-The-World service came to be. Scheduled services commenced on 14 January 1958 with the near-simultaneous departure of Super Constellations VH-EAO and VH-EAP Southern Zephyr from Melbourne's Essendon Airport. VH-EAO departed Australia via Sydney, where it picked up a philatelic mail of some 37,847 items, and then via the 'Southern Cross' route across the Pacific to the USA. The two aircraft passed each other en route and VH-EAO returned to Australia via London and the 'Kangaroo Route' through the Middle East and Asia. Stops were made in: Nadi (Fiji); Honolulu; San Francisco; New York; London; Rome; Athens; Bahrein; Karachi; New Delhi; Bangkok; Singapore; Jakarta; and Perth. To see our entire range, please click on the image ==>
