Hasegawa 1/48 Aichi B7A2 Attack Bomber Ryusei Kai

Aichi B7A is a Japanese, single-engine, torpedo aircraft and dive bomber, with a low-wing system with inverted seagull's wing (similar to the Ju-87 Stuka), with a metal structure from the late World War II. In 1941, the naval aviation of the Japanese empire presented very high technical requirements for an on-board bomber to replace Nakajima B6N bomber and torpedo planes and Yokosuka D4Y dive bombers. The new planes were to operate from Taiho class carriers. The AM-23 project was the answer of the Aichi company. In May 1942. the first of the nine prototypes B7A1 has risen into the air. However, construction works were constantly delayed due to problems with the Nakajima NK9C Homare 12 engine. As a result, only in April 1944. the plane went into series production as B7A2. The machine turned out to be very good and easy to pilot and had excellent performance. Despite the fact that production was planned in three factories, only two started serial production, building only 105 aircraft (including Aichi's 80 vessels, 25 Navy Naval Works). Machines had to operate from land airports, because at that time the Japanese navy did not have any capable aircraft carrier.
