For the first time, a model of the latest Hercules variant, the C-130J-30 "Super Hercules", is released in the 1/500 scale. New features include six-blade propellers and the air-to-air refueling probe above the cockpit. Germany has ordered a total of six "Super Hercules" from Lockheed, which will be used from Evreux Air Base in Normandy, France, in the joint Franco-German transport squadron. In February 2022, 55+01 became the first German C-130J to arrive at Evreux. In its short past, the unit has already played an important role in supporting counter-terrorism operations across Africa, humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan, and, more recently, in strengthening the defense of NATO's eastern flank amid Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
