In August 1972, after the popularity of the two-door coupe, Holden introduced a Limited Edtion sedan based on the entry-level Belmont to test the public's reaction to a four-door sports sedan. This was the HG SS, a Belmont optioned up to GTS standards with sports wheels, GTS grille, side vents, blackouts, black boot panel and unusual bonnet stripes from the headlights to the front scuttle panel. Powered by a 4.2 litre (253ci) V8, it included luxury items such as bucket seats, sports steering wheel and GTS instruments and was available in three distinctive nnInurs. I Lettuce Alone, Infra Red, or as featured here, Ultra Violet. It became hugely popular. Interior includes a monogrammed steering wheel and turned polished effect on the instrument facia. The detailed engine and surrounding bay look just as good as the original. Note the decal on the air filter chassis detail includes an accurate representation of the sump, gearbox, engine underside and exhaust.
