Why this aircraft matters

N743PA began life in 1970 as a Boeing 747-121 built for Pan Am. It soon became a key early Jumbo for American Airlines under lease, helping launch their transcontinental “Americana Service” between New York and Los Angeles.

It carried American’s clean polished look—reflecting the gleaming promise of early wide-body airliners.
