Why this aircraft matters
PH-KCG bore the name Maria Callas. KLM received it in 1995 as part of a trio-jet fleet upgrade. It carried long-haul passengers for nearly two decades.
This model marks a chapter in KLM’s deep ties to Douglas aircraft. Their relation stretched from the DC-2 through the MD-11. PH-KCG helped close that era.
The jet’s final passenger flight came in late 2014. It took part in KLM’s emotional farewell series. Those were the last passenger MD-11 flights globally.
After retirement, PH-KCG went to storage in Victorville in 2013. It waits there as a low-key relic of aviation history.
This model captures that final bridge—between the age of tri-jets and the rise of modern twins. It stands for the end of a legacy, not just a livery.
How to use it
Display this model proudly on your desk, shelf, or within your diorama. Employ the included stand for an in-flight look or set it with landing gear down for a grounded impression.
No tools, glue, or paints are needed. The model is ready to display right out of the box.
This is a diecast model. It is fragile and not recommended for children.
