Why this kit matters
The Fokker E.IV was developed during the First World War as an advanced version of the earlier Eindecker fighters. It used a more powerful rotary engine and carried heavier armament than earlier types, often fitted with two or three machine guns firing through the propeller arc using synchronisation gear.
This aircraft appeared during the period when Germany held a strong advantage in fighter combat, often referred to as the Fokker Scourge. Though produced in limited numbers, the E.IV represented an important step in the rapid development of fighter aircraft during 1915 and 1916. A 1/72 scale plastic model kit of the Fokker E.IV adds an early combat aviation subject with clear historical value.
