JJOODA "Hangman" belonged to the 3rd Battalion, 32nd Armored Regiment, 3rd Armored Division. The HQ5 indicates the tank belongs to the Battalion Headquarters Company of the US 7th Army based in Germany and probably was in service between 1962 and 1980. In 1963 the 3rd Battalion, 32nd Armored Regiment transferred to Germany and assigned to the 3rd Armored Division "Spearhead" whose task was; in the event of war with the Warsaw Pact countries, to defend the Fulda Gap. In 1978 the M60A1 began to be replaced by the M60A3.
