From 2003, a total of 15 Airbus A340s were operated by Swiss. Even if, according to the latest reports, some of these will still be kept in reserve status after 2025, the end of the four-engine aircraft's scheduled service with Swiss is imminent. So what better time to dedicate one last special edition to the A340. For years now, it has become a small tradition to have an aircraft take off as the “LxAirDeer” for a few weeks in December, as a Swiss Rudolph, so to speak. As part of its annual LX-Mas campaign - LX is the IATA code for Swiss - the Swiss airline paints the nose of one or more aircraft red as a reference to the world’s most famous reindeer. In time for the holiday season, we are creating a small memorial for the A340 in the 1/500 scale with this red-nosed new release.
