Southern Rail Models L Class Interrail L265 N.Rivers
Built by Clyde Engineering for the Western Australian Government Railways between 1967 and 1973, the L Class Co-Co diesel-electric locomotive was designed as an Australian version of the US SD40 model. Twenty three were initially built for operation on the new standard gauge railway from Perth to Kalgoorlie, which replaced the narrow gauge route in 1970. Today, the L-Class operate industrial and general freight traffic in WA, with three operating in NSW for grain traffic.
