Description
Carried on A-1-A Blomberg trucks, the E8/9 locomotives were built for speed rather than pulling power, which kept them reliably assigned to passenger duty, and would find use on the PRR pulling the “Broadway Limited” on the non-electrified portions of its journey, specifically between Harrisburg and Chicago. Two E8 A units would be used for this portion of the trip.
