Fully renewed commercialization of Wam 80000 series, the main model of 2-axis freight cars
Wam 80000 appeared in 1960 as a 15-ton double-axle covered freight car suitable for pallet transportation with the promotion of mechanization of cargo handling. It features a large side door with a structure that allows the sides of the car body to be opened and closed freely. It is a standard-type freight car boasting the largest production of 26,605 cars in the history of Japanese railways. It is also the first format in which the paint color of Tobiiro No. 2 was adopted.
The 280,000 series is a group of majority called driving stability countermeasure vehicles with extended distance between axes.
