Revell 1/35 Kanonenjagdpanzer (KaJaPa) + Observation Version (BeobPz)
The Kanonenjagdpanzer (also known as Jagdpanzer Kanone 90mm) was a German tank destroyer from the Cold War period. The first prototypes were built in 1960, and serial production continued in the years 1965-1967, ending with the production of about 770 copies of this car. The Kanonenjagdpanzer was powered by a single 500hp MTU MB 837 Aa diesel engine. It was armed with a single 90mm Rheinmetall BK90 / L40 gun and two 7.62mm MG3 machine guns.
The Kanonenjagdpanzer was developed as a lightly armored and highly mobile tank destroyer with a considerable maximum speed of up to 70 km / h. It was also characterized by a very low silhouette, which greatly facilitated the masking of the car in the field. In general terms and in appearance, it clearly resembled the Jagdpanzer IV - a German tank destroyer from World War II. The production of the cars was originally between three companies: the Hanomag and Henschel plants produced Kanonenjagdpanzer for the needs of the Bundeswehr, and the company MOWAG for the needs of the Swiss army. However, with the introduction of the T-64 and T-72 vehicles into the line by the Soviet Army, the Kanonenjagdpanzer tank destroyers became obsolete, and attempts to retrofit them with 105 mm guns ended in a fiasco. Some of this type of vehicles have been retrofitted with TOW guided missiles. Regardless of the version, these vehicles were withdrawn from the Bundeswehr until 1990. Kanonenjagdpanzer carts were used in the Swiss army, the Belgian oasis in West Germany.
