Noch Belgian Football Team
Goaaal! - Finally there is a complete football team. The Belgians national football team, the Red Devils, presents itself at Noch, the model landscaping specialist, in their red jerseys. The team consists out of 10 players and one goalkeeper. The model railway figurines - the football players - have been re-created on a 1:87 scale for the model railway and modelled in typical, game-related scenes. The players fight, straddle, curse and run. In combination with other national teams, international matches can be depicted on the model railway landscape or in a diorama.
The Belgian national team was in its prime during the 20s of the 20th century, when it won the Olympic title in Antwerp and when it participated, as one of the very few European teams, in the very first World Cup in Uruguay. Only in the 1970s and in the 1980s, was the team finally able to achieve similar success. Back then, the Belgian team was notably successful in multiple World Cups and European Championships with players, such as Jean-Marie Pfaff and Jan Ceulemans. During the qualification for the 1974 World Cup the team only faltered against the Dutch team, which went on to win the second place that year, and only missed its chance because of the worse goal ratio, even though they hadn't allowed any team to score a goal against them. The name Red Devils is form the year 1906, when a football journalist said that the Belgians were playing like devils in their red jerseys.
