Why this kit matters

The Panhard EBR was a French armoured reconnaissance vehicle developed after the Second World War. The design was created to provide the French Army with a mobile reconnaissance vehicle combining road speed, cross-country capability and useful armament. It entered service in the early 1950s and remained in French use for several decades.

The EBR became known for its unusual eight-wheel configuration, with retractable central steel wheels providing extra traction away from paved roads. Its distinctive armoured hull and turret made it one of the most recognizable French reconnaissance vehicles of the post-war period. The EBR family also saw service with several foreign operators, making it an interesting subject for military history and scale model collections.
