Why this kit matters

Australian and New Zealand mounted troops played a major role in the Sinai and Palestine Campaign during the First World War. These forces operated in desert conditions where mobility was essential, carrying out reconnaissance, patrol work, and rapid attacks across large open areas. Mounted units often used horses, though camels were also common for long-range patrol duties in harsh terrain.

The ANZAC Mounted Division took part in several major operations against Ottoman forces, including actions around Gaza, Beersheba, and Jerusalem. Their ability to move quickly across desert ground made them highly effective in campaigns where supply routes and distance shaped military planning. This diorama set reflects that lesser-known part of First World War history with strong visual character.
