Why this aircraft matters
Harrier ZG478 served with RAF No. 41 (R) Squadron at RAF Coningsby, where the unit operated as the RAF's Fast Jet Test and Evaluation Unit. The squadron worked with defence manufacturers and research organisations to test weapons and develop effective delivery techniques.
In 2006, ZG478 received a special tail scheme to mark the 90th anniversary of No. 41 Squadron. The design featured the squadron's distinctive double patriarchal cross crest, linked to its first overseas deployment to St Omer, France, during the First World War.
ZG478 later served in Afghanistan. In May 2009, the aircraft suffered a heavy landing at Kandahar Airport and caught fire after its tail struck the ground. The pilot successfully ejected from the aircraft.
Livery and Finish
The model recreates ZG478 in its RAF No. 41 Squadron configuration with the distinctive 90th anniversary tail markings. The painted finish and pad-printed details give you a period-specific display model of this well-known Harrier GR9A.
How to use it
Display the Harrier on your desk, shelf, cabinet or aviation diorama. The model comes finished and ready to showcase, so you do not need paint, glue or modelling tools.
This is a diecast model. It is fragile and not recommended for kids.
