In July 2024, the Croatian airline received its first of a total of 14 Airbus A220s on order. The first scheduled flight was from the Croatian capital Zagreb to Frankfurt, for historical reasons. In 1992, the then newly founded airline's first international flight also flew to Germany's largest airport. In a few years, the A220s will replace Croatia Airlines' entire current fleet, consisting of A319s, A320s, and Q400s
