Slowly but steadily, the last remaining McDonnell-Douglas tri-jets are nearing retirement, currently only seeing operation with cargo carriers. Between 1990 and 2004, Delta operated 17 MD-11s on long-distance routes to the Asia-Pacific region as well as Western Europe. N806DE entered service wearing Delta’s classic “widget”-livery. Our limited-edition release in 1/500 scale follows suit and sports this color scheme, which remains popular among aviation enthusiasts today.
