Why this kit matters
The Type 055 is a large guided-missile warship operated by the People's Liberation Army Navy. The first ship was launched in 2017, with the class entering service from 2020. At around 180 metres long, the Type 055 is a major surface combatant designed for a range of missions, including air defence and anti-surface warfare.
