Why this kit matters
The USS Hornet CV-8 played a key role in World War II, most famously as the launch platform for the Doolittle Raid in April 1942. This daring mission marked the first air raid on the Japanese mainland, boosting Allied morale and demonstrating the reach of US naval power.
Commissioned in 1941, the Hornet also participated in the pivotal Battle of Midway and the Guadalcanal campaign before being lost in action in October 1942. Its legacy endures as a symbol of courage and innovation in naval aviation history, making this model a meaningful addition to any collection.
