Why this kit matters

The USS New York (LPD-21) is a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock of the United States Navy, commissioned in 2009. Notably, the ship’s bow contains steel salvaged from the World Trade Center, making it a symbol of resilience and remembrance. The vessel is designed to transport and land Marines, their equipment, and supplies by embarked air cushion or conventional landing craft and amphibious vehicles, augmented by helicopters or vertical take-off and landing aircraft.

USS New York has participated in numerous training exercises and humanitarian missions, reflecting the versatility and strength of modern naval engineering. Its unique heritage and operational significance make it a popular subject for scale model builders and naval enthusiasts alike.
