Why this aircraft matters
Gloster Gladiator N5752 was flown by Australian Flying Officer Alan Boyd of No. 3 Squadron RAAF during combat operations in the Middle East. Boyd became one of the notable Australian Gladiator pilots of the campaign against Italian forces.
On 13 December 1940, Boyd claimed two enemy aircraft destroyed before his Gladiator was damaged during the same engagement. He landed in the desert, carried out running repairs to the aircraft's control lines and later flew back to Gerawala airfield.
Over a six-week period, Boyd was credited with at least six enemy aircraft destroyed. Four, and possibly five, of these victories were achieved while flying N5752.
Livery and Finish
The model recreates N5752 with the NW-G squadron code and period markings associated with No. 3 Squadron RAAF. Its painted finish captures the look of an operational Gladiator used in the Middle East campaign.
How to use it
Display the Gloster Gladiator on your desk, shelf, cabinet or aviation diorama. It arrives as a finished diecast model, so you do not need paint, glue or modelling tools.
This is a diecast model. It is fragile and not recommended for kids.
