The Mitsubishi F-2 is the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's multirole fighter, developed from the F-16 with a larger composite wing and Japanese avionics. The F-2B is the two-seat training version.
In January 2023, the JASDF and the Indian Air Force held the bilateral air defence exercise Veer Guardian at Hyakuri Air Base. To mark it, F-2B 23-8111 of the 3rd Squadron, 7th Air Wing received special tail art: a warrior's head with tiger stripes, and the words "VEER GUARDIAN" in the colours of the Japanese flag on one side and the Indian flag on the other, set over the F-2's two-tone blue maritime camouflage.
