The M4 "Sherman" series of medium-sized tanks was initially inherited from the M3 medium-sized tanks. It used the "Continental" R975 air-cooled star aviation gasoline engine. The welded body was directly called the M4 model in the entire series. The M4 was put into production after the M4A1 and M4A2.
