Details
A century of Franco-American friendship, painted on a delta wing.
The Escadrille La Fayette was formed in 1916 to welcome American volunteer pilots eager to support France during the First World War, and was named in honour of the Marquis de La Fayette, French hero of American independence. Its traditions were carried on by Escadron de Chasse 2/4 "La Fayette", which flew the Mirage 2000N from 1989.
In 2016, to mark the squadron's centenary, Mirage 2000N 353 (125-AM) received this striking special scheme, finished almost entirely in black with dark grey fins carrying the squadron's Native American head and stork emblems. The aircraft flew with the Ramex Delta display team during its final season. The Mirage 2000N was retired in 2018.
