Why this kit matters

The AD60 Class Garratt was the most powerful steam locomotive operated in Australia. Built by Beyer, Peacock & Company, these massive articulated locomotives hauled heavy freight across the steep grades of New South Wales from the 1950s through to the early 1970s.

Locomotive 6029 is one of the few surviving examples and has been restored to operational condition, making it a celebrated icon of Australian railway preservation.
