Fully renewed commercialization of Wam 80000 series, the main model of 2-axis freight cars
Wam 80000 appeared in 1960 as a 15-ton 2-axis covered freight car suitable for pallet transportation with the promotion of mechanization of cargo handling. It features a large side door with a structure that allows the sides of the car body to be opened and closed freely. It is a standard type freight car boasting the largest production of 26,605 cars in the history of Japanese railways. It is also the first format in which the paint color of Tobiiro No. 2 was adopted.
Wam 380000 is a form in which the bearing is remodeled into a roller bearing for the purpose of improving maintainability, and the outer panel paint color was changed to cargo blue in 1991-1993.
