Why this kit matters

Gunpowder vans were specially designed to transport explosive materials safely across Britain’s rail network. Their isolated use and distinctive markings made them an important but uncommon part of railway freight operations during the steam era.

The Great Western Railway operated dedicated gunpowder vans for industrial, mining, quarrying, and military supply traffic. Adding a specialist vehicle like W105725 helps create more authentic and visually varied freight consists within period railway layouts.
