As with all of Kato's Unitrack piers, these are for use with the viaduct Unitrack and bridge system. 'Normal' ground Unitrack won't attach.

One of the attractive features of KATO's Unitrack system is the wide variety of N gauge piers.
You can choose elevated track piers/double track piers that correspond to a variety of rail plans, such as iron bridges for crossing roads and rivers, and slope piers for approaches to connect to horizon roads.
The grade created by the viaduct incline will vary depending on the length of track used between piers, but can be quite steep. This is usually fine for Kato trains (which are rated for 4% grades) and the short length of trains used on Japanese layouts, but may be excessive for longer trains of those of other manufacturers.
