Description
5 plank open wagons were the most common general goods wagon and were standardised by the RCH in 1923. They had a capacity of 12 tons (depending on the load); many were privately owned and carried on in use post nationalisation. Founded in 1983, Dapol originally entered the OO gauge model railway market but decided to withdraw from the UK's OO gauge scene on 2000. Two years later the company entered the N gauge market by launching its 14xx tank engine. The company has since re-entered the OO gauge and O gauge markets.
