Why this model matters

F. H. Silvey & Co. represents the many independent coal and goods merchants that operated across Britain’s railway network. These companies relied heavily on wagon fleets to move coal, coke, and general cargo to local industries and households.

The 5 plank wagon design gave extra load capacity compared to earlier 3 plank types, making it a common sight in busy yards and sidings. The brown merchant livery reflects practical, work-focused freight operations of the era.

How would your layout change if every wagon carried a real merchant identity from Britain’s freight history?

How to use it

This is a ready-to-run OO scale wagon. Place it on compatible OO gauge track and couple it to your locomotive or freight consist.

No assembly, paint, glue, or modelling tools are required. Check couplings before operation for smooth running.

This is a plastic model. It is not a toy.
