Why this model matters

J.R. Wood & Co. Ltd. represents the network of independent coal and goods merchants that supported Britain’s rail freight system. These businesses relied on wagons like this to move coal, coke, and general cargo between railheads and local industries.

The 5 plank design allowed heavier and more varied loads compared to earlier wagons. The bright orange livery adds strong visual contrast, helping your freight trains stand out in busy yard scenes.

What kind of stories would your layout tell if each wagon carried a real merchant identity?

How to use it

This is a ready-to-run OO scale wagon. Place it on compatible OO gauge track and couple it to your locomotive or freight consist.

No assembly, paint, glue, or modelling tools are required. Check couplings before running for smooth operation.

This is a plastic model. It is not a toy.
