Why this kit matters

The F-4 Phantom II was one of the most versatile and widely used fighter aircraft of the Cold War era. The F-4C variant served with the United States Air Force and played a major role during the Vietnam War. Its speed, payload capacity, and adaptability allowed it to perform a wide range of missions, from air superiority to ground attack.

The Wild Weasel programme introduced a specialised mission focused on suppressing enemy air defences. Aircraft like the F-4C were equipped to detect and target radar systems, reducing threats to other aircraft. This role marked an important development in modern aerial warfare, and the Phantom became closely associated with these operations.
