Why this kit matters

The Grumman TBF-1C Avenger was a key torpedo bomber for the US Navy during World War II. Introduced in 1942, it played a crucial role in major Pacific battles, including the Battle of Midway and the Battle of the Philippine Sea. Its rugged design, large payload, and long range made it a favourite among crews and a formidable opponent for enemy ships and submarines.

The Avenger was also notable for its advanced features, such as a power-operated gun turret and folding wings for carrier storage. Over 9,800 Avengers were built, serving not only with the US Navy but also with the Royal Navy and other Allied forces. Its legacy continues as one of the most successful naval aircraft of its era.
