Notably, Hammann was involved in the Battle of Midway, where she was tragically sunk while assisting the damaged aircraft carrier USS Yorktown.

Building this model allows enthusiasts to pay homage to the brave sailors of the Hammann and to appreciate the engineering marvels of naval warfare during the 1940s.
